I’m not sure we made the best use of the Fast Passes on this day, but they did save us a lot of time waiting for GateKeeper, Valravn, Gemini, Maverick, and Steel Vengeance. The latter two were still long waits, but Valravn and Gemini were walked right onto. SteVe suffered an issue while we were in line, causing us to wait an hour, and later, we waited for an hour or more through a Mille breakdown. We keep breaking my cardinal rule! Rain and wind kept a lot of rides offline as well. But it was still a pretty good day.
After a nap at the hotel, the others rode coasters while I got a scoop of Buckeye Bites from Toft’s and browsed the nearby shops. Then I saw that a show was playing at the saloon near Mille, so I got a Great Lakes Oktoberfest and found a spot inside to watch. At the very least, it would be shelter from the rain that had started.
The show (FANGS: After Dusk) was pretty good, with good vocalists and two amazing guitarists. They played 80s hard rock.
After the show, I went searching for more entertainment but didn’t find any—it was all rained out. The phone rang—the rest of the family was ready to return to the hotel. I headed for the exit but couldn’t walk past Magnum. I ducked in the Fast Lane, and after waiting 10 minutes or so for them to switch to one-train ops, had a great, rattling, icy, hair-raising ride. The woman behind me screamed the whole time, enhancing the experience.
We had bought one Premier All-day Meal Plan this day, estimating it would save us a little money. I don’t think it did, and I think it encouraged us to eat when we didn’t need to. We probably should have just got our daughter a drink plan.
I would still do Fast Lane Plus on a Saturday even though I felt we wasted it a little.
